Sign Up for Room In The Inn

RoomRoom In The Inn is a ministry of Charlotte’s Urban Ministries Center to our homeless neighbors during the cold winter months (Dec - Mar). St. Alban’s hosts one night a month (Thursday), partnering with Davidson United Methodist Church, which provides the facilities. There are many ways you can participate in and/or support this vital ministry:

  1. Help prepare the meal
  2. Help with setup (making beds, etc.)
  3. Serve dinner and cleanup
  4. Donate personal sized toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion)
  5. Donate white-only underwear/T-shirts/socks
  6. Donate Tylenol, ibuprofen, non-alcoholic cough syrup, cold tablets, ear plugs, travel-size Kleenex
  7. Make a cash donation to help with costs of laundry, lunches and medical supplies

There are signup sheets in the narthex if you want to help on a Thursday night. Our nights this year are January 13, February 10 and March 10. You can sign up for one activity or as many as you like. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family, and the neighbors enjoy interacting with young people. Due to limited space in the facility, please be sure to sign up everyone in your family over age 7 who will be staying for dinner.

The neighbors get to enjoy a hot shower and we provide the needed toiletries, so your donations of personal size shampoo, soap and lotion are greatly appreciated. We also offer them a change of underclothes, so donations of white underwear (jockey only for men), T-shirts and tube socks (men and women) are always welcome. A bin is located downstairs for your donations.

For more details on Room In The Inn, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sherry Klepfer at Sherry@The-Klepfers.com or 704-799-9995.

¡Hola de Cristo Resucitado!

Costa Rica's 6 ½ million people are mostly Roman Catholic-but there's a lively and active Anglican presence in the 17 Episcopal churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Costa Rica. Several years ago, Bishop Michael Curry and Bishop Hector Monterroso formed a Companion Diocese relationship, recognizing our relationship as members of the Body of Christ, and looking for ways to bring us closer together, to grow the Church in Costa Rica, and to help to support it outreach ministries. Despite Costa Rica's being one of the most stable and economically-solid countries in Latin America, there are still those who don't experience all the benefits.

Peter Macon, Martin McCoy, and I had a chance to build relationships and learn about those needs on a recent trip down to San Jose and Heredia. We began the trip with a delightful dinner with Bishop Monterroso and his wife, Sandra, in their home the day we arrived. On Sunday, we worshipped with the congregation of our partner parish, Cristo Resucitado, in their space over a storefront near downtown Heredia. read more...

Saint Alban´s Dinner Groups

Come join the fun and fellowship of our Parish Dinner Groups. This year we will be meeting on the second Sunday of each month in each other’s homes or elsewhere. We will have two sessions with people in the same group - September to November and January to March. At the first meeting, the group will decide on the host (who usually provides the main dish) and dishes for the next month. Not everyone will host, since the groups have 8-10 people and meet only three times. In April we will have a final potluck dinner with everyone at Saint Alban’s to end our year. You must register by September 1 to be included for the entire year; those signing up later will be included in the second session only.

TO REGISTER: Please click here to download (and print or email to Jackie) the form or complete one available on the table outside the office.

If you have any questions, please email Jackie Dienemann or call 704-655-0826.
